BACK IN JANUARY, the denizens of the internet joined forces to find this little boy pictured wearing a Messi jersey made out of a plastic bag.

In a matter of weeks, the little boy was identified as five-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi from Afghanistan. Speaking to CNN, his father said the boy’s brother had fashioned the jersey out of a plastic bag after he cried because the family could not afford a real one.

Earlier today, however, Murtaza was presented with his very own Argentina jersey (signed by his hero Messi), a full Barcelona kit, and a brand new football.

The Afghan Football Association, who contacted Messi’s club Barcelona on behalf of Murtaza, are also arranging for the child to fly to Spain to meet the footballer.

Just look at these wonderful photos from the UNICEF Afghanistan Facebook page:

Murtaza was obviously delighted, saying:

I love Messi and my shirt says Messi loves me.
